The Primary Teachers Education College (PTEC), Gurwa, Sitagarha, Hazaribagh, is a Jesuit Christian minority institution, established by Hazaribagh Jesuit Educational Society (HJES) in 1958.  It is affiliated to Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi, and recognized by the Eastern Regional Council, National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhubaneswar. At present, the college runs a two-year diploma course to prepare teachers for primary schools in Jharkhand. The governing body of the college strives to carry forward the rich traditions and legacy of long-standing Jesuit education even to this day, and this institution is a continuation of that tradition.
